Bane NOR are planning a nationwide renovation of the railway signal system. The aim is to replace the current outdated signal technology with ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System).
The railway between Rakkestad and Sarpsborg on the Østfold eastern line, is the first stretch in Norway equipped with ERTMS. Test runs with the new signaling system began in November 2013. Bombardier Transportation won the contract for delivering the new signal system.
Rytec has assisted Bane NOR during the procurement, installation, testing, certification, approval and handover to operational organizations. The ERTMS installations were made in 3 work machines (Bane NOR), respectively 2 pcs. LM7 and 1 pc. Robel series 11. Furthermore has Bane NOR also in cooperation with NSB conducted test installation on one of NSB's trainsets (type 69).
Rytec has on behalf of Bane NOR and in cooperation with Trafikverket developed, adapted and type approval prototype of EOS3, Bombardier Transportation RCS Sweden's product. This resulted in the establishment of an Swedish/Norwegian framework agreement for serial deliveries of EOS.
Rytec has also participated in the efforts of developing a common hardware platform (generic product) for STM (Specific Transmission Module) for Norway, Sweden and Finland.
